Four quaint towns are the center of life in the Carolina Foothills. Together, they comprise the First Peak of the Blue Ridge, with great shopping, dining and just-browsing-around options a-plenty. But each town has its unique appeal, its special personality that differs it from its nearby brethren. Spend a day, or a lifetime, in any of the four, and you’ll soon be swept away by its small-town charms, its quality of life, its magical ability to take hold of you and never let go.
Columbus, the county seat, is the setting for the beautiful Courthouse, built in 1857, which has been in continuous use since that time. The town is also the site of much economic growth. Nearby Stearns Park and the Courthouse Square host many community events. Columbus also has St. Luke’s Hospital. One of the most beautiful views of the Columbus area can be seen from White Oak Mountain.
